The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual gathering in Washington, D.C. The President of the United States, representatives from over 120 nations, leaders from all areas of the United States Government, and close to 4,000 people from all over the world and various walks of life come together in friendship and prayer.

President Dwight Eisenhower began the National Prayer Breakfast tradition with the first breakfast in 1953, calling upon his countrymen to pray for the United States. Each year, on the first Thursday in February, world leaders gather together on the shared principles of the teachings of Jesus, building bridges of understanding and fellowship across divides.
